18/06/2024Central Coast Council is pleased to announce the completion of nine playspace renewals across the Coast, with another underway and scheduled for completion by early July 2024. These upgrades unlock the full potential of the community assets, making them more enjoyable and accessible for locals and visitors.
This project involved a comprehensive review of the playspaces through a dedicated renewal program that ensures scheduled maintenance, upgrades and, where necessary, removal of old, vandalised or broken equipment.
The ten locations completed between February and July 2024 benefited from $1.1million in upgrades, made possible thanks to Council’s forward planning. Funding came from Council’s capital works budget, with assistance from the NSW Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation Program for the Wamberal Hall and Maidens Brush Reserve playspaces.
Recognising the important role playspaces play in fostering children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills, Council remains committed to our 2020-2025 Playspace Strategy, which provides strategic direction for the development and sustainable management of playspaces across the Central Coast.
Three additional locations – Bushlands Avenue in Springfield, Baker Park in Wyong and Isaac Park in Hamlyn Terrace – have also been selected for upgrades under the same renewal program. The Bushlands Avenue playspace renewal has received funding from the Local Small Commitments Allocation Program and Isaac Park has received developer contributions (s7.11).

Applegum Park, Woongarrah
Your new playspace includes a play unit with a double slide, height chart, net bridge, climbing walls, sensory board, standard swing, nest swing and junior swing, full rubber softfall and pathway.
Ben Davis Reserve, Bensville
Your new playspace includes a play unit with a slide, climbing wall and shop counter, standard swing, nest swing, bike track, flying fox, rubber softfall, park furniture and pathway.
Lions Park, Gwandalan
Your new playspace includes a play unit with a slide, sensory play panels, a standard swing, nest swing and junior swing, a spring toy, rubber softfall and a pathway linking to an existing path.
Maidens Brush Reserve, Wyoming
Your new playspace includes a play unit with three slides, a climbing wall and shop counter, a rocker, nest swing, rubber and mulch softfall and a new path linking to the car park. It also includes the addition of a disabled parking spot. The existing large octagonal swing has been retained.
Oregon Place Reserve, Hamlyn Terrace
Your new playspace includes a play unit with a slide, net climber, rocker, spinner, sensory play panels, standard swing, nest swing and junior swing, rubber softfall and pathway.
Pioneer Park, Kulnura
Your new playspace includes a play unit with three slides, a climbing net, standard swing, nest swing and junior swing, sensory panels, a seesaw, rocker, rubber and mulch softfall and pathway.
Wamberal Hall, Wamberal
Your new playspace includes a nature play unit including tri net low climber, café shop front wooden drums, timber balance log combo and a rope balance course.
Woodbury Estate Park, Mardi
Your new playspace includes a play unit with double slide and single slide, shop counter, climbing walls, bird rocker, standard swing, nest swing and junior swing, rubber and mulch softfall, sandstone seating and pathway.
Young Street Reserve, Norah Head
Your new playspace includes a ship-themed play unit with a double slide climbing net, seesaw, rocker, standard swing, nest swing and junior swing, mulch softfall, rubber softfall and pathway.
Playspace under construction:
Parkland Gardens Reserve, Tumbi Umbi
Your new playspace includes a play unit with a double slide, climbing nets, fireman pole, height chart, nest swing and rocker, with a rubber and mulch softfall and pathway.
Playspaces announced:
Bushlands Avenue, Springfield
Your new playspace will include a replacement flying fox and a small play unit.
Baker Park, Wyong
Your new playspace will include a large play unit with a slide and a rubber softfall. The existing swings will be retained.
Isaac Park, Hamlyn Terrace
Isaac Park will be upgraded to include fitness equipment, including parallel bars, pull-up bars, monkey bars, pull-up rings, step-up plate and dip bars.
