Now More Than Ever – that’s the theme for this year’s National Reconciliation Week (27 May-3 June), a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will and must continue.

The week is a national initiative to acknowledge the importance of reconciliation between the wider Australian community and First Nations People.

Council is taking steps towards reconciliation through the adopted Central Coast First Nations Accord and the Aboriginal Advisory Committee,

The Accord is an agreement between First Nations Leaders and Council and sets an agenda that guides how to best work together and further reconciliation.

The Aboriginal Advisory Committee was established in December 2023 and works to identify, examine, and formulate a collective response to issues that affect the Central Coast Aboriginal community.

Our community has come a long way but there is still more work to be done. This week, take the time to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and explore how you can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
