Get Ready Central Coast for bush fires and storms
Published On
06/09/2024We know that bushfires and severe storms are more common this time of year and can impact any of our communities on the Central Coast. Being prepared, aware and connected, makes our community stronger and able to recover well after a disaster.
With the recent unseasonably hot weather, we know it is important not to wait until it’s too late and start preparing now for emergency events.
We’re encouraging you to use September to:
- Download the Red Cross Get Prepared App during Red Cross Emergency Ready Week (16-22 September), complete a personal emergency RediPlan and be empowered to make important decisions ahead of time. We know accessing the most up-to-date information before, during and after an emergency is vital. Completing a RediPlan allows you to collate all your vital information in one place including key contacts, meeting places, animal plans, key documents, special items, medical information and more.
The opportunity to Get Ready doesn’t stop there, in partnership with emergency services and key community organisations you’re invited to:
- Attend a local NSW RFS Get Ready Weekend event (21-22 September). Several Central Coast Brigades are holding events in the Community.
- These events provide valuable information and resources to ensure you are prepared for the upcoming bush fire season. Find events near you.
- Attend our ‘Get Ready’ information session with Ourimbah RFS on 28 September, 10.30am-12.30pm. The information session and station tour will allow you to gain practical tips in preparing for the upcoming bush fire season, and have an opportunity discuss your bush fire survival plans with RFS members. The event also includes a complimentary BBQ, station tour and children’s showbags. Find out more.
- Check out our online resources and guides that can help you to understand how bush fires and storms can affect you, so you can be better prepared to help protect your family, property and pets.
