Palm Gully Park playspace at North Avoca has been renewed with the ageing play equipment replaced with an improved consolidated new play area with a beach/tropical inspired theme playspace. In addition, concrete pathways were constructed to connect the playspace with the existing shelter and newly installed park furniture plus rubber softfall into and around the facility to promote accessibility and inclusion.  Established trees were retained and with new plantings will provide natural shade over the playspace.  

This playspace renewal was funded by $105,000 from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and $5,000 from Council.

Central Coast Council Administrator, Rik Hart said playspaces are the heart of any neighbourhood and important community hubs.
 
“Council manages and maintains over 260 playspaces across the region and continues to deliver innovative and high quality playspaces where people of all ages can connect, socialise, play, learn and lead active lifestyles.
 
“Funding from the Australian Government has enabled Council to renew this ageing playspace with safe and engaging equipment for the benefit of the local community.”

The LRCI program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
